Crochet Rainbow Printable
This year I’m following a Bible-in-a-Year reading plan and, for the first time, actually sticking to it. It’s such a well organized plan that I’ll link it here for you, even though I know you’re here for the crochet rainbow printable! This spiritual discipline of daily reading has given me fresh eyes and a renewed love for God’s word. The older I get and the more time I spend studying the Bible, the more thankful I am for every chapter and verse that reveals God’s character to us.
As most Bible reading plans do, this one starts in Genesis. Re-reading the familiar story of Noah and the flood reminded me that God is always faithful to what he says. His word is trustworthy and true. I wanted to make a simple crochet project for when we need that reminder, because let’s face it, we often do.
I hope you’ll be blessed and be able to bless someone else with this crochet rainbow printable as a reminder that yes, God does keep his promises. Be encouraged, believer. His word can be relied upon.
Now let’s get you that rainbow pattern and printable!

Crochet Rainbow Pattern
Materials Used:
- Yarn – Scheepjes Stonewashed in the following colors (less than one 10g ball each. 10g balls can be found in this multipack):
Red Jasper
Coral
Citrine
Malachite
Blue Apatite
Lepidolite
Deep Amethyst - Size 3.0mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)
- Stitch marker
Stitches/Abbreviations Used:
- ch – chain
- R – round or row
- st/sts – stitch/stitches
- sc – single crochet
- inc – increase (work 2 single crochet stitches into the next stitch)
Finished Size:
Using the Scheepjes Stonewashed yarn, which is a sport weight, and a size 3.0mm hook, my little rainbows measure about 2.75″/7cm across.
Pattern Notes:
This pattern is worked in the round and then folded in half and sewn to make the semi-circle rainbow shape. You’ll need to change colors after each round. For the smoothest color changes, finish each round by pulling up the last loop of the last stitch using the color for the next round. Then continue working into the next round with the new color. Cut the yarn after each color change, leaving a few inches to weave in later (or crochet over your ends as you go).
Pattern:
Rainbow
R1: Using Deep Amethyst, ch 6, then join into ring with a sc (mark with stitch marker). Work one more sc into the same chain, then work 2 sc in each additional ch around. (12)
R2: Using Lepidolite, (sc, inc) 6x around. (18)
R3: Using Blue Apatite, (2 sc, inc) 6x around. (24)
R4: Using Malachite, (3 sc, inc) 6x around. (30)
R5: Using Citrine, (4 sc, inc) 6x around. (36)
R6: Using Coral, (5 sc, inc) 6x around. (42)
R7: Using Red Jasper, (6 sc, inc) 6x around. (48)
*Tip: If your increases give your rainbow little “points”, you can stagger each increase using the method described here for a more rounded shape.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail with the red yarn. At this point (I know, I know!), there are lots of ends to weave in. With every rainbow comes a little bit of rain, right? Use your yarn needle to weave in each end behind its color on the rainbow (alternatively, you can crochet over your cut ends as you go).
Then fold the rainbow in half, as pictured, and use the red yarn end to stitch the circular rainbow into a semi-circle.
Crochet Rainbow Printable
Once you’ve made your rainbow(s), it’s time to print the printable. You can use the link or “Download” button below, which will open into a PDF that you can print right from home. I used white cardstock for the cards pictured here.
Once I printed and cut out my cards, I used a little bit of leftover yarn to attach the rainbows. Using my yarn needle, I poked small holes through the back of the card. Then I threaded the yarn through the card and the back of the rainbow, tying a little bow in the back. Lastly, I cut the cardstock into a curved shape around the rainbow and under the Bible verse.
I hope you enjoyed making your own rainbows as a reminder of the steadfast love and faithfulness of our good God. If you like this pattern and printable, make sure to check out my crochet pocket hugs as well!
