Hi Jennifer
I love the look of chenille but I think with all the warnings about micro plastics in the home from synthetics I will continue to use natural fibres such as cotton and wool for crochet and wool for stuffing especially when making it for a baby or child.

when I use chenille yarn and it's time to start a new skin I pull the fuzzies out about two inches on the new skin and on the old skin then tie the string 2,3,or more times and cut the left over off you can't see or feel the join and no weave in

also you need to crochet loose with this yarn or it can break, there is no give like other yarns

Dear crocheters, there are a lot of different qualities of chenille yarn, and some qualities are very difficult to work with. I recently discovered ( when on vacation in Germany) that Rico Design has a very nice quality to work with. It's called Chenille Love from Rico design. It works fine when you make a Magic Ring, it doesn't shed off so easily and it's even easy to sew parts on.
I used a Hook 4 ( so the stiches are a bit thight, very important to keep the stuffing in!)

hello! I agree this is the cutest duck! ALSO, I'm in full agreement ou5t took me a hot minute to adjust to the chenille yarn. I love the loops & thread yarn and definitely worth figuring out how to use it because the end result is totally worth it. I will say I do love the Parfait Chucky because although it's also as similar yarn, I find that it's not a difficult to use. it's much thinner than loops & threads but IMO you don't have to struggle through it. also, will you please let me know the color of the yarn you used on the duck pattern pictured here. thank you in advance!

Thank you, Marilyn! I know what you mean - there are so many adorable projects made with chenille yarn! It's at least worth a try, even if you're still loyal to cotton like me. Cotton is my favorite fiber!

Hi Jennifer, you’re the very first person I’ve written to on Pinterest but, after reading about using chenille yarn for crocheting, I’m so grateful for all those pointers both negative and positive! I’m a self taught crocheter way back in the days before the internet - particularly utube - was invented, but love to make little amigurumi figures and love to work with cotton.
Every time I see a wonderful little figure that someone has made, I keep thinking how gorgeous they look and how I’d love to try using it. I’m still undecided!! Marilyn x
